Montserrat Day Trip: Walking and Qigong Practice
A morning to walk, breathe, practise Qigong and share time together in the extraordinary landscape of Montserrat.
Montserrat: nature, history and presence
Montserrat is much more than a mountain. Its distinctive form began millions of years ago, when stones and sediments carried by ancient rivers accumulated beside the sea that then occupied part of the Ebro Basin. Over time, water, wind and movements of the earth shaped its characteristic peaks and rock walls.
For centuries, the mountain has also been a place of pilgrimage and contemplation. According to legend, in the year 880 several young shepherds saw a light accompanied by a beautiful melody that led them to a cave. There they found the image of the Virgin of Montserrat, known as La Moreneta. When people tried to move it, the image became so heavy that it could not be carried away. This was understood as her wish to remain on the mountain.
La Moreneta, patron saint of Catalonia, represents protection, strength, motherhood and trust. Many people visit her to seek guidance, give thanks, begin a new chapter or receive her blessing.
For those who sense the subtler dimension of places, Montserrat can feel like a space of special energy, almost a portal between the earth, the sky and the inner world. Its formations, silence and long spiritual tradition invite us to pause, listen and return to our centre.
Our Montserrat outing from Barcelona is an opportunity to approach the mountain with presence: to share the journey, discover its story, visit La Moreneta and practise Qigong in contact with the landscape.
Languages: The gathering takes place in Spain. Communication can be adapted to Spanish, English or Russian.
Programme
- Departure from Barcelona to Montserrat. The meeting point will be confirmed after registration.
- Breakfast and coffee.
- Blessing of La Moreneta.
- Walk to the hermitage or cable-car ascent, depending on availability and the group’s preferences.
- Qigong practice.
- Departure back to Barcelona.
There is no fee for participating in the gathering. Transport, breakfast and any entrance or travel tickets are paid individually.
